Where Stories Meet Strangers: The Little Free Library
For this assignment, I was asked to write a place feature that captured the atmosphere and meaning of a location of my choosing. I chose the Little Free Libraries in the Lake Norman area and spent time visiting different spots, observing how people interacted with them. I reported the story through on-site notes, photos, and interviews with a local bookstore co-owner and a Davidson librarian, which helped me understand how these small book boxes bring people together. I also included a sidebar on the Free Little Art Gallery in downtown Davidson, a tiny community art box that follows the same idea of sharing and creativity. Together, these details show how simple, community-run spaces can make strangers feel a little more connected.
